ISLAMABAD: According to a statement made on Monday by the Foreign Office, Pakistan is prepared to collaborate with all emerging nations, including the BRICS members, to address the challenges facing the international community.
When asked by the media about a “High-level Dialogue on Global Development” that was virtually held in conjunction with the BRICS meetings, a FO spokeswoman responded
Pakistan commended China for hosting the BRICS summits so successfully.
According to BRICS spokeswoman Asim Iftikhar, “We have noted that this year a “High-level Dialogue on Global Development” was conducted as a side event, to which several developing and emerging economies were invited.
According to the FO Spokesperson, China, which is hosting the BRICS meetings, interacted with Pakistan before they began. Decisions are made at these meetings after consultations with all of the BRICS members, including whether to invite non-members.
He lamented the fact that one member had prevented Pakistan from taking part.
However, he said, “We do expect that going forward, the organization’s engagement would be founded on the principles of inclusivity, keeping in mind the general interests of the developing world, and in a manner that is devoid of narrow geo-political considerations.
