After firing former Test spinner Nadeem Khan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) terminated the employment of Dr Najeeb Soomro, its chief medical officer.
As Dr Sohail Saleem was fired during the Karachi leg of the sixth PSL season, Dr. Soomro was chosen to fill the role in 2021 by Wasim Khan, the then-CEO of the PCB.
Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Shahnawaz Dahani, Shadab Khan, Hassan Ali, and Mohammad Rizwan were among the players who sustained injuries during his leadership.
When Shaheen sustained an injury last year during a crucial T20I season, Soomro, who had made a name for himself in the field of Australian sports medicine, found himself in hot water.
The PCB has already started the process of hiring a new Director of Sports Medicine in reaction to these recent changes, as shown by a board announcement.
The cricket board also fired former player Nadeem Khan from his roles as Domestic Director and Director of the National Cricket Academy earlier this month.
It is significant to note that the Men in Green just finished hosting New Zealand for a five-match T20I and five-match ODI series.
Before the Asia Cup in 2023, the team captained by Babar Azam will play a two-match Test series against Sri Lanka.
