A high-level delegation led by the Lebanese Prime Minister met with Ahmed al-Sharaa, the ruler who overthrew Bashar al-Assad and established an interim government in Syria.
According to the international news agency, important agreements were reached in the meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and a plan of action was drawn up for relations between the two countries.
The two leaders also discussed a roadmap for the safe return of 1.5 million Syrian refugees from Lebanon to their homes.
Ahmed al-Sharaa said that Syria was harmed and Hezbollah has inflicted great wounds on us. Syria will no longer be a conduit for Iranian weapons for Hezbollah.
The head of the Syrian interim government added that despite these actions by Iran and Hezbollah, we are fully ready to cooperate with all forces.
Senior officials of the Lebanese security forces were also present at the meeting. The need to resolve border disputes was emphasized.
In the meeting, the two countries agreed to organize and coordinate legal movement across the borders.
It should be remembered that anti-government militant groups led by Ahmed al-Shara, also known as Abu Muhammad al-Julani, ended Bashar al-Assad’s 15-year dictatorial rule.
After which an interim government has been established in Syria, however, Ahmed al-Shara remains the de facto ruler of the country.
