On Sunday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah stated that the government was debating whether to bring a new case against PTI Chairman Imran Khan for his “provocative statement” the day before or to include him in an ongoing case.
The minister criticised Imran at a press briefing in Islamabad for allegedly threatening authorities and impeding officials from carrying out their official responsibilities.
For yesterday’s address, the interior minister claims that a case against Imran is being considered. The campaign after the Lasbela incident, in which six army officers lost their lives, Gill’s attempt to incite army ranks to rebel against their top command, and Imran’s threat against a female judge and police officers for carrying out their duties in accordance with the law, according to the minister, are all continuing.
Imran asserted in a rally yesterday that “someone” was giving the Islamabad police orders to take action against his party officials.
He informed the rally attendees on Saturday that he intended to file a complaint with the Supreme Court on the alleged torture of Shahbaz Gill. “When I inquired of the police to show me whatever did you do to Shahbaz Gill, they said ‘we did nothing, we got a boot behind to follow orders,'” he claimed. In his news conference today, Sanaullah stated that his ministry had drafted a report and was in consultation with the law ministry and the advocate general of Islamabad. He added that it would take a few days to reach a judgement.
