Islamabad: Focal Person of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Afnan Mashal, visited the Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries, where she was warmly received by Chamber President Tayyab Sheikh and other office-bearers. Senior Vice President Sardar Zaheer Ahmed, Vice President Rao Javed, executive members, and a large number of traders were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Afnan Mashal said that she fully understands the issues faced by the business community and youth, particularly the challenges related to women empowerment and entrepreneurship. She stated that the government is taking practical measures to empower youth and traders, and she would play her full role in resolving the problems of the business community.
She emphasized that training young people according to modern market demands is the need of the hour so they can avail better business opportunities. Stressing the importance of e-commerce, she said Pakistan has immense potential in this sector, but only a limited number of people are currently engaged in it.
Afnan Mashal further said that joint workshops would be organized to train youth and bring them into the practical business field. She added that the government would also take onboard the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), FIA Cyber Crime Wing, and other relevant institutions to establish a secure and successful e-commerce environment for traders and entrepreneurs.
Speaking on the occasion, Chamber President Tayyab Sheikh welcomed the distinguished guest and said that small traders are facing numerous challenges, which require immediate government attention. He said the Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries represents more than 4,000 traders, which is a matter of great pride.
He added that the Chamber would continue to work actively for the welfare of traders and the protection of their rights in the future as well.
At the conclusion of the event, Afnan Mashal was presented with a commemorative shield by the Chamber.
