ISLAMABAD: Vice Chairman PTI, Shah Mehmood Qureshi Wednesday claimed PTI’s 27 MNAs appeared at Ayaz Sadiq , Speaker National Assembly chamber for the verification of the resignations but after waiting for more than two hours, they came back.
Talking to media men, he said party MNAs had fulfilled their moral duty by appearing at the speaker’s office. “We were made to wait for two and half hours but the NA Speaker did not come, we had decided to wait till 4:00 PM but the speaker did not show up at 4:15.”
“Trumpeters of democracy had learnt nothing from the past”. Qureshi maintained adding that all the MNAs openly said that they had come to verify and that they had tendered resignations.
He went on saying his party’s point of action was clear and that its lawmakers have resigned from the National Assembly claiming PTI has successfully tried to highlight the massive rigging during the 2013 General Elections through constitutional means”.
Meanwhile, deadlock persists over the issue of resignations of PTI lawmakers from the National Assembly with NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq insisting that each lawmaker show up individually in his chambers for verification and opposed to making a collective appearance.
On the other hand the PTI has decided to stay firm on its decision that party MNAs would not appear before the National Assembly Speaker individually to verify that they had tendered resignations from the lower house of the parliament.
