Islamabad: The Senate Secretariat has issued a notification of the approval of the resolution regarding the postponement of the election.
A copy of the approval of the resolution passed by the Upper House of Pakistan has been sent to the President, Caretaker Prime Minister, Election Commission, Ministry of Law and Justice, and other relevant departments.
The Senate Secretariat directed the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs to take immediate action and submit a report within 2 months and asked the Election Commission to change the election schedule immediately given the country’s situation.
It should be remembered that the upper house (Senate) passed the resolution to postpone the general elections to be held on February 8 in the country by a majority vote.

In the meeting chaired by Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, 14 members were present in the House at the time of approval of the resolution, Independent Senator Dilawar Khan from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa presented the resolution to postpone the election, Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) members and a member from FATA. Hidayatullah supported the resolution.
PTI Senator Gurdeep Singh and PPP Member Bahramand Tangi remained silent while Muslim League-N Senator Afnanullah opposed the resolution.
