Karachi:The ground-breaking ceremony of Pakistan’s first Maritime Science and Technology Park was held at the Expo Center during Ideas 2024. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf attended the event as the chief guest.
According to the spokesperson of Pakistan Navy, addressing the ceremony, Chief of Pakistan Navy highlighted the historical importance of the project and said that Pakistan Maritime Science and Technology Park (PMSTP) in the field of maritime sciences, technology, business and industry. It will pave the way for development.
He further said that this important development will open new avenues for the development of Pakistan’s GDP and maritime sector. Ameer Al-Bahr emphasized that the success of PMSTP is a reflection of the partnerships established with visionary individuals and organizations.
PMSTP is the first maritime science park of its kind in the country that brings together academia, industry and government in a unique collaboration to promote growth in Pakistan’s maritime sector. The park’s initiatives include promoting a number of sectors including maritime technologies, artificial intelligence, cyber security, ocean renewable energy, seafood processing, shipbuilding, and coastal tourism.
The Pakistan Maritime Science and Technology Park is envisioned as a revolutionary hub for innovation and development, focusing on maritime science and technology to power Pakistan’s blue economy. The project is a major step towards addressing Pakistan’s economic challenges with planned expansion to Islamabad, Lahore and Gwadar in addition to Karachi.
