ISLAMABAD: Members of the ruling coalition have dubbed party leader Imran Khan everything from a liar to a corrupt foreign agent to a money launderer and have called the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision in the forbidden financing case of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) a “charge sheet” against the party.
Tuesday, the PPP Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-spokesman Zardari’s said the judgement proved the former premier was a corrupt person who was trying to run his political party underneath the name of Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif maintained the ECP decision declared Mr. Khan a “certified liar” for submitting false affidavits.
After the ECP issued its ruling on Tuesday morning, the prime minister tweeted, “The ECP decision on PTI overseas financial case start charging Imran Niazi for violating the Constitution, providing false affidavits, and taking foreign money.”
Following the ECP decision, former prime minister and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif called on the government to take “urgent legal action” against Imran Khan from London, claiming that Imran used to deliver “lectures” about honesty to his audience.
