Former Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan’s party, the Pakistan Rights Movement, has joined the opposition alliance, the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Aayin Pakistan, and announced a joint struggle for the upliftment of the constitution, democracy and human rights.
At a joint press conference in Islamabad, the Pakistan Rights Movement and the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Aayin Pakistan announced that they would continue their political struggle together in the future and said that they would play a joint role for true democracy, an independent judiciary and the supremacy of the constitution in the country.
Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that he was grateful to Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan for inviting him. Senator Mushtaq Ahmed has been raising the voice of oppressed Muslims around the world, including Palestine, for the past several years and he also faced difficulties for speaking the truth in front of oppressive states.
He said that both parties will continue their joint political journey for the solution of the country’s problems and for the rights of the people.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmed said that the Pakistan Constitution Protection Movement and the Pakistan Rights Movement will jointly struggle for true democracy, independent judiciary and people’s rights.
Expressing concern over the situation of the Palestinians, he said that thousands of Palestinian prisoners are facing inhumane treatment in Israeli jails, while Pakistan should immediately withdraw from the “Board of Peace”.
Criticizing the government severely, he said that heavy taxes are being imposed on petrol, inflation and terrorism are increasing and the people are paying the price of failed policies.
Opposition alliance leader Zubair Umar said that inflation and poverty have reached the highest level in the country while the government has failed to manage the economy.
He said that the government is justifying global oil prices while the situation is different in India and Bangladesh, and there is a fear of further burden on the people in the upcoming budget.
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said that Senator Mushtaq Ahmed has raised a bold voice for the oppressed Muslims, the judiciary, the Election Commission and the parliament are not independent in the country.
Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that the country is moving towards dangerous situations, democracy has been damaged and the Constitution of Pakistan is what binds the country together.
He warned that if political forces do not come forward to protect the Constitution, the situation may worsen.
