Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that action against tax defaulters should be speeded up.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif chaired a review meeting on the state of the economy in which the Finance Ministry gave a briefing on the meetings with the IMF delegation.
The Prime Minister said that the country is moving towards economic stability, due to the measures taken to develop the economy, there is a bullish trend in the stock market, foreign investors are showing confidence in the government policies, public relief has been prioritized over all other measures. Jaye, are taking all possible measures to fulfill the promises made to the public.
He said that inflation rate decreased from 38 percent to 7 percent, interest rate decreased from 22 percent to 15 percent, which will increase business activities and create new employment opportunities in the country.
The Prime Minister said that the country’s foreign exchange reserves have increased due to the increase in domestic exports and record remittances. The Chief Minister of Punjab and the Punjab government pay tribute to the reforms in the agricultural sector.
He further said that actions against tax defaulters should be accelerated, tax evaders and their supporters will be brought to justice, the development of the country’s economy is possible only when everyone fulfills their responsibility. All sectors have to play their role in the development of the country by paying taxes.
