ISLAMABAD: An awkward situation occurred during PTI’s Amr-bel-Maroof public gathering on Sunday as Pakistani singer and philanthropist Abrar-ul-Haq gave the Fajr azan at Maghrib time.
A video of the singer, who is also a member of the ruling PTI, shows him giving the call to prayer at Maghrib time during the PTI rally. However, the singer mistakenly said “Assalat-o-Khairum’minann noum (prayer is better than sleep)” — the Arabic words reserved only for the morning prayer.
The error was immediately noticed by the rally participants, who started hooting. The call to prayer was stopped in the middle and Senator Faisal Javed then gave the azan all over again.
However, there is no confirmation regarding the incident and it is being interpreted that a recording of the call to prayer was played at the PTI rally instead of the philanthropist giving it live.
