Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the flood-affected areas of Punjab, including Sialkot sector, Shakargarh, Narowal and Kartarpur, and encouraged the rescue workers to serve the people.
The Army Chief was given a detailed briefing on the current flood situation and preparations for the upcoming rains.
The Field Marshal reviewed the ongoing rescue and relief operations in the affected areas and appreciated the coordinated and tireless efforts of the army personnel and the civil administration.
The Army Chief also met the affected Sikh community in the Sialkot sector and assured them that all the religious places affected during the flood, including Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, will be restored to their original condition on priority.
The Field Marshal said that the protection of minorities and their religious places is the responsibility of the state and institutions, Pakistan will leave no stone unturned in fulfilling this duty.
The Sikh community enthusiastically welcomed the Army Chief and thanked the civil administration and the army for their services during the flood. On this occasion, the Army Chief also conducted an aerial survey of Darbar Sahib Kartarpur.
Field Marshal Asim Munir appreciated their timely and proactive strategy which helped in minimizing the loss of precious lives and property.
Addressing the soldiers, the Army Chief paid tribute to their high morale, operational readiness and spirit of service to the people and appreciated them for serving the people in difficult circumstances.
On arrival, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was received by Corps Commander Gujranwala.
