ISLAMABAD: On Monday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan made a request for bail in the case involving illegal funding being heard in a special court.The bail petition was prepared by the PTI leader’s attorneys, who pleaded with the court to prevent the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from detaining Khan. The former prime minister also made the decision to show up in person to post bail.
The PTI chairman was granted protective release by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) last week until October 18 (Tuesday) in the same case, with the understanding that Khan will file a petition with the appropriate court. This week, Khan has moved to get bail from the special court.
FIA files a complaint against Imran Khan
Imran Khan and other PTI leaders were arrested by the FIA last week as the agency stepped up its probe into the issue involving banned money.The first information report (FIR) lodged against the former prime minister has been delivered to the FIA’s banking circle police station.
The Abraaj Group allegedly deposited $2110,000 to the PTI account at the Islamabad Bank branch on Jinnah Avenue, according to the federal agency’s allegations in the FIR.Abraaj Group, a private equity company with operations on six continents, is currently under insolvency as a result of fraud allegations.
According to the FIR, the branch’s operations manager also neglected to inform the appropriate authorities about these allegedly illicit activities. PTI leaders have repeatedly been called in by the FIA for questioning, but not all of them have turned up.
