To better traffic management and related difficulties, the Lahore traffic police have started using drone cameras for traffic monitoring and surveillance.In order to monitor traffic on Mall Road as a preliminary experiment, a drone scan of the road was done. Along with SP Traffic Asif Siddique, SP Shahzad Khan, and Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muntazir Mehdi, they were all present.
During the drone surveillance, the roadblocks, demonstrations, and alternative route options were all assessed.Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road, Ferozepur Road, and Dir Model Routes would be the first roads to be monitored by drones.Advanced drone technology, according to CTO Muntazir Mehdi, will be utilised to enhance traffic management and regularly monitor problems like smoggy vehicles and one-way traffic offences.
He continued by stating that challenges with road engineering were also noted during the experiment. As a result, traffic problems like parking and encroachment will also be captured on video by drone monitoring.
