Captain (Retd.) Safdar, husband of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has stated that whenever a disagreement arises between the couple, it is Maryam who takes the initiative to reconcile. He recently appeared in an interview on a YouTube channel, where he engaged in an interesting conversation covering both political and personal topics.

Responding to a question, Captain (Retd.) Safdar explained that he does not issue orders to his wife; their relationship is built on mutual regard and respect. Noting that they have been married for 35 years and have children and grandchildren, he jokingly remarked that he chose not to join the cabinet because, whenever Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz enters the room, everyone is required to stand up—and he simply does not want to have to stand up.

When asked about arguments with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Captain (Retd.) Safdar said that their disagreements are very minor, and in such situations, it is Maryam Nawaz who takes the initiative to resolve matters. He further shared an anecdote: whenever sweets are brought into the house, Maryam Nawaz tells everyone to hide them, saying that Safdar would eat them all and make himself sick.
