The death toll in the long march as predicted by many has risen again today after an incident of aerial firing. There have been reports of multiple high profile people being injured by a gun attack including Imran Khan himself. The level of political unrest in recent times has increased to an all-time high after todays incident in the long march that is in process under the leadership of Imran Khan. It is reported that as Mr. Khan arrived at the venue there were already different fireworks going on to give Imran Khan a warm welcome by his supporters, workers, area residents and all other followers of the famous leader. Initial reports suggest that a pistol was used to fire multiple bullets towards the container where Imran Khan and his close aids were present. Imran Khan has been shifted to Shaukat Khanum hospital in Lahore but there are reports of uprising unrest in different areas of the country in the shape of sit-ins at busy intersections and protests in various parts of the country.
One person has been arrested and he is being investigated about what his motives were and who provided him with a weapon to openly use it at a densly populated public space which has also resulted in the death of a fellow long march participant.
The most recent update from senior party worker Asad Umer has told the media that Imran Khan is being treated and in a stable condition.
This casualty of a party worker is not the first as this trend of bloodshed in the long march started when a journalist was sent to eternal aboard by the same container which has been fired upon today reportedly injuring several senior party workers. There have been reports of at least one more death and two seriously injured youth from a day before in the same long march.
Imran Khan instead of giving calls of protest in the whole country should rather reconsider his approach, keeping in view the lives already lost during this long march and not to put his or any other persons life at risk anymore.
Imran Khan is an ex-PM of this country thus should think and take responsible decisions which are more in favour of the public of this country as well as his own safety as this long march so far has really proven to be the “bloody long march” as termed by Faisal Vawda in a recent talk show.
Imran Khan should call off this long march and rather go to courts and seek the justice that he out looking for on the streets as there is only bloodshed and chaos in all sectors of the country. Fortunately the famous leader has escaped from this deadly attack but there is a threat of further attacks which could be more catastrophic than this one and as there is a large number of people present at the long march the casulatlites could be much higher.
The judiciary of the country needs to step in and start finalizing the pending cases as soon as possible so that there is some kind of stability in the country with restored trust in the justice sytem of this country. This regained trust in the justice system might change this trend of looking for “justice” on the streets and making life miserable for the common men of the country. The nation prays for the well being of the famous leader along with wisdom for better decision making which is favorable for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and not it’s enemies which are looking at this as opportunity to cause further unrest and gain it’s venomous motives.
