North Korea fired a short-range ballistic missile, sending a message to Trump, who was sworn in as US president a few days later. According to the International News Agency, the South Korean military said that North Korea fired several short-range ballistic missiles into the sea.
Experts say that this could be a message to the incoming administration of US President-elect Donald Trump.
The ballistic missile test took place when Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya was visiting South Korea.
South Korean and US intelligence officials had already detected and monitored North Korea’s missile launch preparations.
South Korea says it is maintaining “full readiness” and is sharing information with the US and Japan while alerting and strengthening surveillance for further tests.
The statement said that it will respond more strongly to North Korea’s provocations in cooperation with all allies, including the US, to protect its integrity and sovereignty.
