Recently a list of 133 countries has been released on social progress index 2016 based on human needs and opportunities. unfortunately Pakistan is ranked at 133 on the list, way behind all other South Asian countries. India in ranked at 98, Sri Lanka at 83 while even Bangladesh and Nepal have surpassed Pakistan as they ranked at 95 and 101.
Pakistan was ranked behind all other countries in terms of access to information, communication tools and environment. It is pertinent to mention here that even Nepal showed massive rise after adopting democracy in 2016 and country performed much better than Pakistan. On the list of individual freedom, basic human rights, tolerance and access to higher education, Pakistan saw the least amount of development during the last one year. It is ranked on 123 on this account. The ranking shows that we have a lot to do to improve in almost all the fields in order to reduce gap with other countries. It should be a big concern that countries with minimum resources are doing better than us.
