SAUDI ARABIA: US President Joe Biden, who is scheduled to visit the country on Friday, applauded Saudi Arabia’s announcement that it would open its airspace to all air carriers, allowing for more overflights to and from Israel.
According to various agreements that state there shouldn’t be any distinction between civil aircraft, the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) declared that the nation’s airspace was now accessible to all carriers that met its conditions for overflights.
The choice will “support the initiatives aimed at cementing the kingdom’s position as a worldwide hub connecting three continents and to improve international aviation connectivity,” the GACA said in a statement. Some flights to and from Israel incurred longer flight times and used more fuel as a result of flying over Saudi Arabia.
