The security forces captured the strategic mountain top in the Rajgal area of the Tirah Valley on Saturday, besides killing a number of militants and forcing others to retreat and flee to Afghanistan. A statement issued by the ISPR said that security forces had established their control on BrekhMuhammad Kandaowhile foreign militants to flee after a fierce gun battle. Heavy artillery pounded the surrounding areas to prevent militants ,possible reinforcement reaching from across the border in Afghanistan. The Army claimed to have seized a large quantity of arms and ammunition stored in militant bases inRajgal and surrounding areas. It is learnt from media reports that foot soldiers assisted by tanks and artillery have made steady advances towards Tor Lagud andKachkol heights, where militants have established their bases and hideouts. The operation is being conducted by a division-size force supported by commandos ,artillery ,aviation and air force in the area that was infested with hideouts of the banned Lashkar-i-Islam, JamaatulAhrar and theTehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. The operation has been launched to prevent the militant Islamic State group from making forays into Pakistan from its stronghold inNangarhar across the Afghan border through collaboration with Pakistani terrorist groups having sanctuaries in the Rajgal Valley. Rajgal Valley operation is another big achievement of Armed Forces and indicator of Pakistan’s sincerity against militancy and terrorism but unfortunately Afghan Forces are not co-operating once again while Pakistan earlier informed Afghan Govt about operation and this was their responsibility to counter those terrorists who were escaping in Afghanistan. We think its time for Afghan Govt to rethink about behaviour towards Pakistan and militants because this is in their own interests.
