KARACHI: Following prolonged torrential rains and flash floods that affected the entire nation on Saturday, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) reported communication links being down in various Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions.
The telecom regulator stated there is a “effect” on the services as a result of flash floods damaging optical fibre cable and causing power outages, according to a statement released this morning. Chitral, Upper Dir, Donbala, Swat, Mardan, Lal Qila Samarbaghdir, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan have all had service interruptions.
“PTA is keenly observing the situation. To fully restore services, work is being done “said the telecommunications authorities.Devastating flash floods have put an end to people’s lives throughout Pakistan, and 982 people have already died as a result of flooding and rain.
As the government makes a request to international donors in an effort to help the people, hundreds of thousands of homes have been damaged and a great number of people have been forced to relocate.
