ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister has decided to maintain the prices of petroleum products at the current level, claiming to provide major relief to electricity consumers.
According to Express News, the Prime Minister said that while maintaining the prices of petroleum products at the previous level, it has been decided to transfer the entire financial benefit to the public in the form of electricity prices.
He said that this step is one of the many other measures that will lead to a meaningful reduction in electricity prices. A package is being prepared under a comprehensive and effective strategy to reduce electricity prices, the details of which are being finalized.
The Prime Minister said that a package is ready to provide major relief to the public in electricity prices through the financial capacity created by the difference in oil prices in the global market and other measures. The package regarding the reduction in electricity prices will be announced in the next few weeks.
Shahbaz Sharif said that he had pledged to prioritize public relief as soon as he took office.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s House, Shahbaz Sharif expressed his determination to provide relief and more facilities to the public in the form of a reduction in electricity rates in the next few weeks and said that this relief will not only reduce electricity prices but will also have an impact on overall inflation and there will be a further reduction in it.
According to the statement, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will soon address the nation regarding the relief and inform them himself.
