Police rescue girl sold for Rs50,000, four held

DASKA, Oct 13 (INP): Police rescued a minor girl sold by poverty stricken mother and arrested four accused including two women on Monday.

Poverty stricken Shahida Bibi w/o Ghulam Mustafa, a labourer hailing from village Sumbalpura of tehsil Daska along with a midwife sold her 9-month old daughter Mahnoor to a childless couple of Tajpura area of Lahore against sum of Rs50,000.

The police on complaint of Ghulam Mustafa, father of the sold girl launched crack down and arrested Shahida Bibi, her cohort midwife Razia Bibi and the couple who purchased the girl.

A case has been registered against the nabbed culprits and investigation was in progress.
