ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met with Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt. Gen Rizwan Akhtar here on Monday.
During the meeting matters pertaining to internal security situation especially relating to terrorism and ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb were discussed. DG ISI Lt. Gen Rizwan Akhtar briefed the prime minister about the progress made so far in the operation against militants in tribal areas.
Prime Minister Sharif lauded the services of ISI describing it as the country’s first line of defense against enemies of the state. The meeting took place ahead of PM Nawaz’s visit to Nepal where he is expected to attend the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit.
He is also scheduled to meet other leaders on the sidelines of the summit. This was the second meeting between the prime minister and the Lieutenant General after he took office as director general. DNA
