ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting here on Wednesday visited the stall of Allama Iqbal Open University at an educational expo held at Pak-ChinaFriendshipCenter.
He took keen interest in the educational activities of University and hoped it will fulfill its role in providing quality education to the people at their door-steps.
During the visit, he was briefed about the ongoing and future plans of the University for expending educational network and introducing new academic programs for the benefit of common man.
An official of the University, Wajiha Azhar told the Minister that the AIOU being the megaUniversity of the country was actively engaged in meeting the educational needs of the people, enabling them to play their productive and useful role in socio-economic development of the country.
She informed the Minister that the University’s students enrollment has reached to around 1.3 million and the special focus was being laid on the education of females and provision of skill-based education, as per the needs of general public.
The AIOU is running around twelve hundreds academic programs, besides regular holding extra-curricular activities for the benefit of the students. The Minster was welcomed at the stall by Shah Farrakh, Director Student’s affairs. =DNA
