MANCHESTER: Pakistan beat England by 9 wickets in the first and only T20 cricket match between England and Pakistan, on Wednesday.
Powered by a swashbuckling innings by Sharjeel Khan, who scored 59 runs from 36 balls. Sharjeel smashed 7 fours and 3 sixes in his innings and was well supported by Khalid Latif, who made an unbeaten 59 from 42 balls. Latif smashed 7 fours and 2 sixes in his innings.
The openers looked menacing right from the start as they took apart the English bowlers from the very first overs with boundaries left, right and center. This was the first T20 match in which wicket-keeper Sarfraz Ahmad held the reins of the team as captain.
Earlier, Pakistani bowlers restricted England batsmen to 135 runs for seven wickets in the only Twenty20 International here at Old Trafford on Wednesday.
Fast bowler Wahab Riaz claimed three wickets for 18 while left-arm spinner Imad Wasim and pacer Hasan Ali took two wickets each for 17 and 24, respectively.
For England, opener Alex Hales top scored with 37.
