ISLAMABAD: PTI leader Abida Raja participated in the programme “Sachi Baat”. She stated that no one could deny the decision of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has interpreted the law and said that elections should be held in 90 days. A caretaker government does not have much power. The caretaker government cannot manage the affairs of the province for long. The election commission and the governor did not give the date of the elections. When the President of the State announced the date, it was not accepted either. The ruler is not ready to accept anything. The census is an excuse; it has nothing to do with elections. In the country whose stick is its buffalo, it is clear in the constitution that elections should be held within 90 days. The decision to end the Jail Bharu movement is good. The government wants no elections. The Election Commission is bound by the Constitution. It is clear in the constitution why the census for the elections was started.
Meanwhile, law expert Amanullah Kunrani participated in the programme “Sachi Baat”. He stated that Parvez Elahi himself said that he did not want to break the assembly. General elections are to be held after six months; there is a procedure in the constitution; sumoto means this is the first decision; the review will be heard in the form of an appeal; two judges have given their opinions regarding the notice itself. If there are no elections for five years, then you can go to the Supreme Court, The country is suffering from an economic crisis, so it is necessary to take care of the country before the elections.
Similarly, PML-N leader Ghous Niazi participated in the programme “Sachi Baat”. He stated that we would review the Supreme Court’s decision. There are full-court examples in the review. There is no constitutional obstacle. Political parties will not be satisfied until there is a full court in the review. It would have been great if a full court had been formed on the issue of elections, but Imran Khan repeatedly violated the constitution.
Former Secretary Election Commission Kanwar Dilshad participated in the programme “Sachi Baat”. He stated that an appeal can be made against the Supreme Court’s decision, after the 18th amendment, the governor has the authority to set the date of elections. The governor should go to the Supreme Court against the decision. An important meeting of the Election Commission is being held tomorrow, in which the road map will be prepared. The government should appeal to the Supreme Court for revision. If the government does not file an appeal, the Election Commission will give a date in consultation with the President. 34 billion rupees are being spent on the census. The Attorney General should have raised a point regarding the census.
We are not talking about any party; we are talking about the constitution, said the former secretary of the Election Commission. It is not written anywhere in the constitution that the Election Commission will give the date of elections. If the President or the Governor gives the date of the election, then the Election Commission will issue the schedule.
Senior lawyer Aitzaz Ahsan talked on the programme “Sachi Baat”. He stated that the opinion against the decision of the Supreme Court is wrong; if elections are not held after 90 days, the caretaker government will end; there is no justification in the constitution to continue the caretaker government after 90 days; and how will things work in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa? Article 6 is not known whether it should be applied here or not; the Supreme Court’s decision should be followed; no one cares what the constitution says; the Election Commission should be ready for the election at all times; the government should hold elections based on the Supreme Court’s decision; this decision should not be confused anymore.
