GILGIT: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday said that no one can prevent women from exercising their right to vote urging them to exercise this power for their empowerment.
Addressing a women rally in Khaplu Valley of Gilgit-Baltistan, the PTI chief said he strong disagree with the policy in areas where women are not allowed to vote. He said only voting will empower their future.
“All the women who are present here right now today I thank you and I tell you, go back and encourage other women to vote,” he said. Khan was accompanied by his wife Reham Khan to address the exclusive rally of women which was also attended by small girls.
He made a commitment that on coming to power in Gilgit-Baltistan, the PTI would focus on education, particularly of women, improvement in condition of hospitals and devolution of power to local governments. He said almost seventy percent of the new schools PTI government opened in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa were for women because that would empower them.
He urged women to take part in politics for the attainment of their rights.
Khan is visiting these areas to campaign for his party ahead of the June 8 G-B legislative assembly elections.
