Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held meetings with other senior leaders of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz to discuss preparations for his GT Road caravan. Nawaz Sharif is all set today to leave for Lahore via GT road, the act many believe is aimed at showing political power.
According to reports, law enforcing agencies have prepared foolproof security for the caravan as bombproof vehicle and jammers will be used while a special security force will be deployed for the former prime minister. To avoid any inconvenience to the public, traffic police has been instructed to devise a plan accordingly. A bomb disposal squad will also be present on the route for screening before the arrival of the caravan. Besides, the workers of PML-N will surround Nawaz’s vehicle throughout the trip.
Leaders and workers of PMLN are trying their best to make this move successful while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf is severely criticizing move of Nawaz Sharif. Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, has termed former PM Nawaz Sharif’s plans to travel to Lahore via GT road, in a parade, an attempt to undermine the Supreme Court. Imran said that after his disqualification Nawaz Sharif is preparing to lash out against the democratic system. He believed that Nawaz Sharif is trying to pressurize NAB, where his cases related to corruption, money laundering, tax evasion, concealment of assets and forgery are set to open.
Reservation of Imran Khan aside, but it is also a fact that PTI along with PAT held marathon sit-in in front of Parliament house in 2014 and some of the workers also attacked building of Pakistan Television Network. Some even tried to attack the Parliament. The situation was diffused once army stepped in to vacate the building.
Political parties deserve the right to show their power, but while doing so they must ensure that day to day life of people must not be affected. We hope that PMLN must ensure that massive movement on the busy road must not cause any public inconvenience and we hope this episode of showing political power remains peaceful.
We hope massive movement on GT Road shall not cause any public inconvenience.
