KARACHI: Former President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday alleged that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started a one-party accountability campaign, warning that NAB’s action will have ‘dire consequences.NAB should close its offices and transfer to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Secretariat, he said.

PPP co-chairman Zardari lashed out on NAB and said it should shut down its offices and move to the PPP Secretariat. He said NAB has started another chapter of one-party accountability which will have ‘dire consequences’.

Everything except PPP is good in the country, he said sarcastically.

It merits mentioning here that NAB has approved today inquiries against PPP leader and former Sindh Minister for Education Pir Mazhar, Arbab Alamgit and his spouse Asma Arbab among five others upon charges of corruption and illegal assets.

NAB) has given green light for opening of cases against Peer Mazharul Haq, Arbab Alamgir and Asma Arbab among 5 other persons on Wednesday. The former Education Minister has been accused of draining the national exchequer by hiring 13000 fake teachers.

NAB is stepping up in its activities to bring corrupt persons to justice. A high level meeting, presided by Chairman NAB Qamar Zaman, took place in which it was decided to launch 5 inquiries on the concerned persons.

NAB has stated that Peer Mazharul Haq has drained the national exchequer by an amount of 4 to 6 billion rupees by bogus recruitments. Cases have been registered against former federal minister in Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government Arbab Alamgir and his spouse Asma Arbab as well.

An inquiry has been launched against Chairman Quetta Development Authority Ismail Gujjar for transferring government lands through illegal means.

Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) Doctor Iftikhar Ahmed has been nominated in a case as well for misusing of power, authority and irregularities in funds.Agencies
