London: Former Indian captain Virat Kohli has drawn an interesting comparison between Wimbledon tennis and the India-Pakistan cricket match.

The former Indian captain watched the men’s round of 16 match between Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and Australia’s Alex de Minaur at Wimbledon on Monday.

On this occasion, Virat Kohli said that the atmosphere of the center court and the pressure on every point sometimes feels more intense than big cricket matches.

Talking to Star Sports, Virat Kohli said that there is pressure in cricket stadiums but it does not feel so terrible. When you are batting, there is no noise, slogans or criticism directly. The real pressure comes only when you are fielding near the boundary.

Praising the intensity of tennis and the mental and physical strength of the players, he said that in tennis, everything is at stake at every point, a moment can change the entire match, the pressure here is very intense, I admire the courage and fitness of these players.

Virat Kohli said that there are only a few matches in cricket where you feel the same pressure as the Pakistan-India match in the World Cup, where the pressure like the semi-final or final is hardly felt in any other match, at that time your feet are really shaking, tennis players have to endure such pressure from the quarter-finals.

It should be remembered that Virat Kohli had recently announced his retirement from T20 International cricket, in which he was also the Player of the Match in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Earlier, in May 2024, he had also retired from Test cricket, however, he will remain available in the ODI format.
