Iran’s President Ibrahim Raisi has arrived in Islamabad today on a three-day visit to Pakistan. This is the first visit of an Iranian head of state to Pakistan since 2017.
The President of Iran, Dr. Syed Ibrahim Raisi, met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House, Islamabad. The two leaders expressed their best wishes for each other.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that after the general elections, you are the first head of state who is visiting Pakistan. The entire Pakistani nation, including me, welcomes your visit.
Iranian President Syed Ibrahim Raisi thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the warm welcome and the two leaders discussed promoting mutual relations and increasing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
President of Iran Ibrahim reached the Prime Minister’s House where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave him a warm welcome and then a guard of honor was presented to the President of Iran by the Chak and Choband forces of the Pakistan Army.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif introduced the members of the federal cabinet to the Iranian President, after which the Iranian President also planted a sapling in the Prime Minister’s House on the occasion of Earth Day.
Earlier, the Iranian president arrived in Pakistan along with his wife and a high-level delegation, including the Iranian foreign minister, other cabinet members, senior officials and businessmen.
Upon his arrival in Pakistan, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi was welcomed by Federal Minister Riyaz Pirzada.
According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi will hold important meetings with Pakistani counterpart President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif during his visit.
The Iranian President will also meet the Senate Chairman and the Speaker of the National Assembly while visiting Lahore and Karachi where he will meet with the provincial leadership.
According to the spokesperson of the Foreign Office, further strengthening of Pakistan-Iran relations, trade, people-to-people relations, and mutual cooperation in the fields of energy and agriculture will be discussed in the meetings.
On the occasion of the Iranian President’s visit, regional and global peace and security will also be discussed on bilateral cooperation to deal with the common threat of terrorism.
The spokesperson of the Foreign Office says that the Iranian President’s visit to Pakistan will provide an important opportunity to further strengthen bilateral relations.
It should be noted that the visit of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi will be the first visit of any head of state after the general elections in Pakistan.
A special security plan has been drawn up on the occasion of President Ibrahim Raisi’s arrival in Pakistan. Before that, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam had discussed security issues in a meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
