ISLAMABAD: On Monday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) reserved Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to present a defence against a Rs50,000 punishment he was given.
Details indicate that the appeal of the District Monitoring Officer’s judgement in Peshawar was heard by a three-member ECP court.
Imran Khan’s attorney argued at the hearing that his client did not use state apparatus or break the ECP’s code of conduct.
He continued by arguing that if state resources are exploited, then a public office holder, not an election candidate, receives notice.
