PESHAWAR: Thunderstorms and heavy rains slammed the northwest regions, causing houses to collapse and killing at least six people, including children.
Over the weekend, hail and heavy rain fell in the Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and other areas of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The region, which is still feeling the consequences of the floods from 2022, was devastated when uprooted trees brought down electrical transmission towers.
Roads were flooded as a result of quick rain; Bannu district remained the worst-affected location. Numerous locations were hit by torrential rain, inflicting injuries on scores. The injured and the dead were taken to various hospitals in the area.
Provincial officials have declared a state of emergency at state-run hospitals in the interim.
Muhammad Azam Khan, the interim chief minister, expressed his condolences for the loss of life and gave the divisional and district administrations involved the go-ahead to start the rescue efforts in the affected areas.
