Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has announced that significant progress has been made in meetings with refineries and the refineries have accepted the government’s request, after which the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) will reduce the price of diesel by more than Rs 32 per liter.
While holding a press conference in Islamabad along with Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik said that the government is fully aware of the public problems, steps were taken to provide relief to the people under the leadership of the Prime Minister and relief was given to the people through targeted subsidies.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said that the difficult times will definitely end, the government is trying to solve the problems, the price of crude oil has increased in the international market, and Russia, a diesel producing country, is also facing difficulties.
The Petroleum Minister said that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif requested the refineries and instructed us, including the Chairman OGRA, after which discussions were held with the refineries and the refineries accepted the government’s request.
He said that the refineries have decided that the price of diesel will be reduced by more than 30 to 32 rupees, and OGRA will present its figures to the public after a few moments, which will provide some relief to the farmers, students and the public.
Ali Pervez Malik said that the government has not left the public completely abandoned to overcome the difficult environment, OGRA is a state institution, the main objective of which is to ensure the safety of the public, as well as take care of the legitimate demands of the government.
He said that the refineries had agreed with us on the price of crude oil during the war and have responded to us even today. Next week, I will go to Karachi with my team to thank the refineries and work on their problems.
The Federal Minister said that they will work with the refineries, which have not been able to arrange for 70 or 80 years. Our refineries cannot use thick crude oil, due to which we have to buy expensive oil and the public gets expensive diesel and petrol, so we will prepare for the upgradation of the refineries.
He said that in the next few days, under the leadership of the Prime Minister, work will be done to strengthen the state that has not been done in 70 years. Refinery upgrade, bonded scheme, how to secure our borders with crude oil from friendly countries will also be operationalized and Pakistan’s weaknesses will be solved on a permanent basis to secure energy for the next generations.
Ali Pervaiz Malik said that the people will be benefited as soon as the opportunity arises.
On this occasion, Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar said that the Prime Minister directed negotiations with oil refineries in the meeting today, the Prime Minister has directed that all possible relief be provided to the people.
He said that OGRA will announce a reduction of Rs 32 in the price of diesel today.
Attaullah Tarar said that due to the war in the region, the price of oil has increased worldwide, the reduction in the price of diesel will provide relief to the farmers and transporters,
The Federal Minister for Information said that the people will get more good news in the coming days.
