First-ever Quantum Computing Hackathon held under Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission

The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission is organizing the first ever three-day hackathon in the country at the National Center for Physics, Islamabad.

According to the details, the hackathon aims to create a conducive environment for quantum research in the country. The hackathon is working on developing solutions based on quantum technology to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

The hackathon also has international support from the United Nations and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). More than 950 applications were received from across the country for the competitions.

After a rigorous selection process, 42 finalists were selected, and the participants will compete using state-of-the-art ‘Quantum Processing Units’ under the supervision of national and international experts.

Chairman Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar said that the young people participating in the hackathon are the future scientific leaders of Pakistan. Quantum technology is no longer a concept but a practical reality.

He said that the role of quantum technology is very important in solving the complex problems of today. Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission is investing heavily in human resources for national development.
