Lahore: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that farmers cannot be exploited in the name of IMF, 90 percent of farmers who have less than 12.5 acres of land should be given facilities and subsidy on electricity.
Addressing the farmers’ sit-in, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that if the IMF is allowed to intervene in judicial matters, then an attempt is being made to enter our system. He is not ashamed to say that the IMF spoke with a laugh.
He said that farmers cannot be exploited in the name of IMF, 90 percent of farmers who have less than 12.5 acres of land should be given facilities and subsidy on electricity. It is the responsibility of the government to provide facilities to farmers under the UN program.
He said that the government should make flour cheaper and provide subsidy on wheat, no organized voice has emerged on the farmers. All the parties are in their own circles. They do not provide education and health facilities, no political party talks about the problems of farmers.
Amir Jamaat said that the farmers’ movement has started, when farmers come from 38 districts, there will be such a big sit-in that you will forget Bangladesh, consider today’s sit-in as a trailer, learn a lesson, if the problem is not solved, they will call the people.
Hafiz Naeem said that if we call for cheaper electricity, petrol and for the rights of farmers, young farmers and laborers will come out, it will not work in this country that generals, bureaucrats, parliamentarians, khans and sardars indulge in luxury and the middle class suffers humiliation, we want our rights.
He addressed the farmers and said that they can sit in the dharna as long as they want, I tell Ziauddin Ansari that you are the host of the people of the dharna, he said that if the government does not accept the demands, then we will decide, we will call farmers from other districts, what kind of green Pakistan is this, if we give the water of Bahawalnagar somewhere else, then we will do injustice.
He said that if we give the water of Bahawalnagar to Cholistan, it will be injustice, if we give land and privileges to the farmers, they will build settlements. Hafiz Naeem said that if anyone tries to lift this dharna by force, we will announce that we will come to the streets of Punjab.
Addressing the government, he said that you have already come to power through forgery and Form 47, you have no moral standing, give the farmers their rights.
Hafiz Naeem harshly criticized the government and said that they neither condemn Trump nor stand for the rights of Palestinians and Kashmiris.
