Rawalpindi: The British newspaper has claimed that despite the wishes of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, the army has no intention of any kind of deal.
According to the report of the British newspaper Guardian, senior sources said that the army has no intention of any kind of negotiation or deal with Imran Khan, while Imran Khan expressed his desire to hold talks with the military leadership from prison.
The Guardian reported that journalists are prohibited from meeting Imran Khan in Adiala jail, but the Guardian referred its questions to sources in his legal team.
In response to questions, Imran Khan said that there has been no direct meeting with the army since his imprisonment in August last year. A deal with Pakistan’s powerful military establishment would not be out of the question.
He told the British newspaper that any meeting regarding the deal with the army will be based on principles and the interest of the people and this meeting will not be for personal interest or to compromise which will hurt the democratic values of Pakistan.
He said that he would prefer to stay in jail for the rest of his life instead of compromising on his principles.
When asked about the trial in a military court, PTI founder said that how a civilian can be tried in a military court and that too a former prime minister, it will be a ridiculous thing.
Imran Khan said that the only reason for a trial of a civilian in a military court could be that no other court would punish him, this decision would be dangerous.
Rejecting the government’s claims of providing facilities in the jail, he said that he was kept in conditions designed to create fear, isolation and break my morale.
“I have been banned from visiting, no electricity in the cell and no access to exercise for 24 hours or without basic liberties,” he said.
Imran Khan said that the ban on the meeting of journalists or the ban on the independent coverage of the trial raises many questions on transparency.
The PTI founder said that he is hopeful for justice and is confident that he will become the prime minister once again with the will of the people.
