LAHORE:Special Assistant to the Chief Minister (SACM) and Spokesperson for the Government of Punjab, Hasaan Khawar, has said that the chief minister has devised an active system of monitoring workings of departments and performance appraisal of officers in order to ensure continuation of better service delivery by the institutions.
He said that the chief minister’s practice of reprimanding those whose performance was found to be unsatisfactory and encouraging those who were the best performers was also a continuation of this resolve.
Hasaan Khawar said that on the recommendations of the Special Monitoring Unit, the chief minister had ordered action against the officers and institutions which had been performing poorly in the recent past.
He said that the chief minister had reprimanded the chief executive officers (CEOs) of the Lahore Parking Company, the Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Board, the Lahore Transport Company and Faisalabad Parking Company, the managing director of Punjab Khal Panchayat Authority, the director-general of Agriculture Marketing Regulatory Authority, the secretary of Punjab Local Government, the managing director of Punjab Mass Transit Authority, the directors-general of DG Khan Development Authority and of the Bahawalpur Development Authority, the chairman of Hilal Development Agency and the director general of Punjab Skills Development Authority on unsatisfactory performances.
On the other hand, the chief executive officers (CEOs) of the Infrastructure Development Authority, the Punjab Model Bazaar Management Company, the Punjab Cattle Market Management Company and Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power (Pvt.) Ltd., the director-generals of the LDA and the Walled City Authority, the project-director of the Punjab Skills Development Fund and officers of other departments had been commended on their excellent performances.
Answering a question about the possible return of Nawaz Sharif during a press conference at the Alhamra on Sunday, Hasaan Khawar had said that Nawaz Sharif wasn’t returning to Pakistan.
“He is an absconder of our judicial system and will be treated as per the law upon his return despite the all-out efforts of the Sicilian mafia’s Raiwind chapter to get Nawaz Sharif’s sentences commuted,” he said.
Hasaan Khawar said that the PTI had always been in favour of transparent elections.
Local bodies’ elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and by-elections in Punjab were a testament to this fact, he said.
He said preparations were in full swing to hold the local bodies’ elections in Punjab on time.
Hasaan Khawar, while dismissing reservations of the Opposition over the local bodies’ elections in Punjab, said that the local bodies’ system in Punjab would be the strongest one in the history of the country.
