There is a strong possibility of opening batsman Fakhar Zaman joining the team for the tri-nation series and Asia Cup, with fast bowler Salman Mirza not being considered.

The announcement of the potential players is proposed to be made next week and the camp will be held in Lahore, however, the final decision will be taken in consultation with the selectors, head coach and captain Salman Agha upon their return from the West Indies.

According to sources, left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman, who is suffering from a hamstring injury, will report to the National Cricket Academy in a day or two, where the PCB medical panel will examine his injury.

According to reports, Fakhar Zaman’s injury is not a major concern, the opener is hopeful that he will get rid of his fitness issues with routine rehab.

The selectors are also confident that Fakhar Zaman will be available for the tri-nation series and Asia Cup. It depends on his medical reports, if the medical panel gives permission, then Fakhar Zaman can definitely be included in the squad.

To further strengthen the bowling department, the selectors are in favor of making Salman Mirza a part of the squad, so his name has been withdrawn from the squad going to Darwin, Australia.

After the PSL, Salman Mirza has given an impressive performance in the series against Bangladesh. Sixteen players can be selected for the tri-nation ODI series and the Asia Cup.

The Pakistan, Afghanistan and UAE series will be held in Sharjah from August 29, for which a training camp is expected on August 20.
