On Thursday, Islamabad Faisal Mosque hosted funeral prayers for renowned journalist and television host Arshad Sharif.
In a “mistaken identity” case, Sharif was shot and killed by Kenyan police on Sunday night as he was on his way to Nairobi.
Early on Wednesday morning, Sharif’s body was airlifted from Kenya to Pakistan. His body was received by family members at the airport in Islamabad.
In their initial investigation, the Kenyan police acknowledged killing him. According to Kenyan authorities, Sharif was shot in the head after a case of mistaken identity.
Eight members of the PIMS hospital’s medical board performed a postmortem on his remains at the hospital upon the family’s request. The family requested that the medical team also include an OMFS surgeon and an ENT surgeon.
At the hospital, his body was also subjected to an X-ray and a CT scan by the PIMS medical board.
The initial postmortem report is anticipated to be published today, according to sources.
Professor Hashim Raza of the PIMS hospital estimates that the forensic examination of the items sent to the laboratory could take a few days.
