RAWALPINDI: ANF has stepped up “Drug Demand Reduction” activities to curb the Narcotics-menace with the active participation of masses. In continuation of its efforts, ANF Rawalpindi has organized “Anti Narcotics Awareness Walk” on Friday from Kachehri Chowk to Ayub Park, Rawalpindi. It was attended by notables to include DG ANF Major General Khawar Hanif, Mishi Khan, Batin Farooqi, Advocate Raja Nasir Member Rawalpindi Bar Council, Shazia Rana Chairperson Women Association, Country Heads of UNODC and INL(P).
This activity is part of series awareness campaign, which includes lectures at educational institutions, free medical camps, sports events, musical shows, painting / poster competitions etc. People belonging to different walks of life participated in the event. The participants express their resolve and determination to eradicate the menace of drugs from society.
Speaking on the occasion Major General Khawar Hanif apprised the participants about injurious effects of drugs on individuals, families and society. He urged the need for cooperation by basic unit of society i.e. “family” to keep a watch inward and around”, hence discouraging the addiction trend. He highlighted that ANF is not only controlling the drug smuggling, but also actively engaged in awareness as well as treatment of addicts. Further, he narrated that the main purpose of awareness campaign is to create a culture of saying “No to Drugs” willingly by society. Other participants also highlighted the adversities of addiction and its ill-effects on individuals and family.
The venue was decorated by Anti-Narcotics posters, placards and advertisements. The occasion concluded with a presentation of souvenirs and gifts to prominent member of civil society.
