ISLAMABAD, Nov 15 (INP): Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif met with Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar, the new Director General of Inter Service Intelligence (ISI), on Saturday morning.
General Akhtar, who took office on November 7, discussed with Nawaz the situation in North Waziristan, and the role ISI can play in putting an end to the Pak-Afghan cross border terrorist infiltration.
This was the first meeting between the prime minister and Lt-Gen Rizwan Akhtar after he took office as director general. They further discussed what role the ISI can play in improving the overall law and order situation in the country.
The premier and spy chief also discussed the possibilities of how to deal with terrorist hide-outs in settled areas of the country other than the Federally Administered Tribal Area (Fata).
The Prime Minister lauded the services of ISI and said it was the first defence line of country’s defence. He asked General Rizwan Akhtar to pay close attention to locating and hitting the dens of terrorists in different parts of the country.
