Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has ordered immediate relief to deserving transporters, saying that delays based on data errors will not be tolerated.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to review the implementation of the subsidy.
The meeting was attended by provincial ministers Sharjeel Memon, Mukesh Chawla, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, Principal Secretary Agha Wasif, Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination Asif Ikram, Secretary Finance Fayyaz Jatoi, Secretary Transport Asda Zamin, Secretary Excise Saleem Rajput and other officials.
It was informed in the briefing that 3,976 vehicles were paid under the fuel subsidy scheme in Sindh, amounting to Rs 146.7 million, while the process of correction is underway due to errors in the data of more than 5,000 cases.
The Sindh Chief Minister directed to expedite the verification process so that the data of 11,980 eligible vehicles should be collected. He directed the transport and excise departments to liaise closely with the federation. The Chief Minister ordered that the CNIC, IBN and other data errors should be corrected immediately.
The Sindh Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the digitalization of the transport system. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the process of automating the Excise Department’s motor registration, PTA and RTA systems is underway.
Syed Murad Ali Shah directed the integration of the system with the traffic and motorway police. He said that transparency and efficiency should be improved through technology.
The Sindh Chief Minister ordered strict action against vehicles without route permits or fitness certificates and made route permits mandatory for the registration and transfer of vehicles. He directed to further tighten the system of field checking and fines.
Murad Ali Shah said that violation of the law will not be tolerated at all.
The Sindh Chief Minister directed that effective communication be established between the Transport, Excise and law enforcement departments, while subsidies should be delivered transparently, timely and to the deserving people.
