In the context of the recent tense situation in the Middle East, a joint statement has been issued by the leaders of Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Canada and Japan.

According to the World News Agency, the joint statement welcomes the two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States and praises Pakistan’s role.

The joint statement was issued from the office of British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, and was signed by several European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgi Maloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

The statement also includes European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa, which further increases the global significance of the statement.

The statement says that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran is a positive development, for which we appreciate the diplomatic efforts of other partners, including Pakistan.

World leaders also stressed that diplomacy is the only way to end the war, that meaningful negotiations should be urgently taken forward and that a permanent and sustainable solution to the war should be found in the next few days.

The joint statement also demands that the protection of Iranian citizens and regional peace be ensured in the event of military attacks. If the situation is not controlled, a serious global energy crisis could arise.

The joint statement urged all parties to fully implement the ceasefire, especially in Lebanon, where tensions are rising.

Furthermore, the statement also expressed the commitment that the relevant countries will play their role in ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, so that global oil supplies are not affected.
