Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that projects like the International Medical Center and the China-Pakistan Joint Lab in Pakistan should be made more active to deal with natural disasters and the partnership between China and Pakistan should be further expanded in this regard.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the National Earthquake Simulation Center at Tianjin University during his visit to China. At the National Earthquake Simulation Center, the Prime Minister was briefed on disaster management and rescue technologies, including newly developed medical rescue vehicles.
The Prime Minister was briefed on the latest technology developed for preventive measures for natural disasters. The Prime Minister was informed that there are several projects in this regard with the cooperation of China and Pakistan and work is underway on several.
These projects include the China-Pakistan Joint Lab for Disaster and Emergency Medicine built under the Belt and Road Initiative, the International Medical Cooperation Center, the China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital and other projects.
The Prime Minister praised China’s use of modern technology to deal with natural disasters and said that the modern technology and methods used in China will prove to be very useful in dealing with natural disasters in Pakistan. In this regard, benefiting from Chinese expertise, effective precautionary measures and strategies can be used in Pakistan to deal with natural disasters in the future.
Shahbaz Sharif said that projects like the International Medical Senator and the China-Pakistan Joint Lab in Pakistan should be made more active to deal with natural disasters and the partnership between China and Pakistan in this regard should be further expanded.
He said that vigorous efforts are underway at the national level to deal with the recent flood situation in Pakistan. Additional relief convoys have been sent by the federal government today for families affected by the recent flood situation in Narowal, Sialkot, Wazirabad, Hafizabad, Chiniot and Jhang, which will be handed over to the provincial disaster management authority.
The Prime Minister urged the NDMA to remain in full communication with the Punjab government and provide full support to the provincial disaster management authorities in view of the recent flood situation in the country and said that relief operations will continue for the flood-affected families.
Later, the Prime Minister, while addressing the Tianjin University in China, said that the Pak-China friendship that has withstood every test is based on mutual trust, respect and sincere love.
He said that we are proud of China’s achievements. Students studying in China are a symbol of strong friendship between the two countries.
Shahbaz Sharif said that more than 200 Pakistani students are studying in Tianjin University, while a total of about 30,000 Pakistani students are studying in various educational institutions in China. Pakistani students studying in China are the ambassadors of the country.
He said that these students are benefiting from modern research and contemporary education and technical skills, vocational training is the need of the hour, while 600 Pakistani agricultural graduates have also completed their training in China.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Pak-China friendship is based on mutual trust, respect and sincere love. This friendship has withstood every test. Pakistan and China are historically and culturally connected. Pakistan was the first country in the Muslim world to recognize the People’s Republic of China.
