Pakistan and Japan have agreed to increase mutual cooperation in trade, investment and other sectors.
This decision was taken in a meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Senior State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Mayaji Takuma, which was held at the Japanese Foreign Office in Tokyo.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, while expressing her best wishes for the leadership and people of Japan, said that Japan is a country that is the cradle of economic, technological and social development and its development linked to human values is worthy of imitation for the whole world. She said that she wants to implement Japan’s development model in Punjab so that modern facilities can be provided to the people.
Mayaji Takuma welcomed the Punjab Chief Minister as the first female Chief Minister to pay an official visit to Japan and congratulated her on becoming the first female Chief Minister of Punjab on this occasion.
Naho said that the visit of a Pakistani personality of this level to Japan in the last 30 years is welcome. The launch of more than 120 projects in Punjab is commendable and Japan always considers Pakistan as a close friendly country.
The meeting also discussed natural disasters. Mayaji Takuma expressed regret and sympathy for the loss of life due to floods in Pakistan. On this occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that Pakistan will benefit from Japan’s experiences so that disasters like earthquakes and floods can be dealt with better.
She said that Japan’s construction technology and model of dealing with natural disasters will be of immense help to Pakistan.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz apprised the Japanese leadership of her government’s preferential policy for investors and said that Pakistan will never forget Japan’s support and cooperation in difficult times.
At the end of the meeting, Mayaji Takuma thanked Maryam Nawaz and her delegation for their visit and reiterated her commitment to further expand friendly relations between the two countries.
