ISLAMABAD: After 75 years from Independence Day, the country is commemorating its diamond jubilee today (Sunday) with the customary zest and fervour seen throughout Pakistan.
The 21-one fire salute was fired at the provincial capitol and a 31-one fire salute was fired at the start of the day.
Mosques recited special prayers at dawn for the country’s peace, harmony, and prosperity. The centrepiece of the celebrations each year is this ceremony downtown Islamabad to hoist the national flag.
At provincial, divisional, and district headquarters levels nationwide, similar flag-hoisting ceremonies are also held.The nation was asked by President Dr. Arif Alvi to remain faithful and work tirelessly for the nation’s growth, progress, and prosperity.
“To confront the nation’s financial, economic, and security issues, we must remain unified. In a statement commemorating Pakistan’s 75th anniversary of independence, which is being marked on August 14, the president urged people to “stay strong in their commitment to make whatever sacrifice again for dignity and self-respect of our people and indeed the splendour and glory of our dear nation” (today).
He emphasised that people should remember their oppressed brothers and sisters in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir while commemorating the Day (IIOJ&K).
