Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar stated that 2.2 million individuals have registered for the fuel relief scheme, with 1.9 million tokens already issued. He noted that 92 percent of the registrants are operators of motorcycles, Chingchis, and rickshaws, and the requirement for vehicle ownership has been waived for them.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, he said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's special fuel relief scheme for the public is proceeding successfully. He highlighted that petrol and diesel prices are rising globally, with oil prices steadily increasing due to regional tensions; the Prime Minister, mindful of the needs of the underprivileged, issued timely directives to all relevant departments and personally supervised every stage of the special relief scheme.
